When you move into a new neighbourhood, you’re always worried if you’ll get along with your neighbours. Just like the saying “You can pick you friends, but not your neighbours”. We had been to a few meetings where we saw people, but me being somewhat of a shy person at first, I didn’t want to talk to anyone and I would leave right away (they all probably thought ‘SNOB’). The only neighbour I knew was Barbara-Ann Soloman, lifestyle blogger behind Barabra-Ann Style Blog.
As the first couple of moving days passed, we slowly met more and more neighbours and instantaneously became friends with them, many of those who we now call some of our best friends. We hang out everyday until the wee hours of the mornings, we talk about day excursions we can do as a group, and almost every weekend we have a karaoke party with them on our rooftop. One of the best parts about moving into a new community is that everyone is in the same boat. Most of us are first time home buyers, we’re around the same age and we all have similar interests! Tiago and I feel so grateful that we have the neighbours we do and we’re glad we’ve built life-long friendships with all of them! It’s only fitting I wear this custom made Toronto skyline jacket to represent my love for my home, my family and those who have supported me through everything. I know Tiago has a hard time calling Toronto home, but as the time passes and the people he meets enter our lives he starts to fall more in love with this city.
