Wednesday night was one of those nights where literally you had to arrive EARLY to the tents! Two of the biggest shows of the week were back to back, Pink Tartan & Joe Fresh, and let me tell you, if you weren’t first in line – you probably weren’t getting in! Pink Tartan was up first. Designer Kimberly Newport-Mimran (wife of Joe Mimran – designer of Joe Fresh) showcased her Spring/Summer collection, and they’re wasn’t a seat empty!
According to Kimberly Newport-Mimran she was very inspired by Brigitte Bardot and the seaside scene in the ’60s. She brought the 60s to 2012 using the seasons hottest colors – bold reds, oranges & indigo! She updated the 60s look slightly to make it more modern, by making bold colors and flouncy skirts more tailored. She had fun with polka dots, and touched on the nautical side with navy stripes. My favorite piece of all time was the iridescent shell skirt & dress which just wowed the audience as it came out on the runway.
Andrej Pejic, the androgynous Australian male model, walked the runway not once, not twice, but three times in Pink Tartan, escorting Kimberly down the runway and catching her as she fell on the way out, but her Celine shoes were too gorgeous for anyone to notice her graceful fall!
